SALSA's Armstrong Delivers Global Perspective to French National Wound Healing Conference

Professor David G. Armstrong, Director of the University of Arizona's Southern Arizona Limb Salvage  Alliance delivered a plenary talk to some 4000 physicians, surgeons, nurses and scientists from around the French-speaking world at the 2013 Conference Nationale des Plaies et Cicatrisations held in Paris. "It was a pleasure to be with so many friends and colleagues from the francophone world", noted Dr. Armstrong.   Armstrong shared new data surrounding the massive gap in research funding in the diabetic foot. "There exists a 600-fold gap between the cost of care for foot ulcers as a proportion of diabetes and foot ulcer research funding as a proportion of diabetes research. We have to narrow this massive gap if we are going to continue to advance and make a difference."
